Renae joined the Conference staff in April 2019. As Finance Director, she oversees financial operations of the Conference, including managing accounting processes, budgeting, financial analysis and reporting to the Conference Minister and Finance Committee.
Renae founded and served as CEO of Core Value Consulting, LLC, a consulting firm that began in 1999 and specialized in the outsourcing of finance, accounting, and operations functions; facilitation of strategic planning processes; and marketing for small businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.
She also served as principal and CFO at G. L. Berg Entertainment, economic advancement director and business finance officer at Southwest Minnesota Foundation, a business education instructor in Willmar Public Schools, and partner and CFO at Quinlivan, Shields & Associates.
Renae has enjoyed serving on the board of directors, as treasurer, and on the loan committee of Prairieland Economic Development Corporation; treasurer of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Social Innovation in St. Cloud, a community group developing renewable energy in rural Minnesota, and a local lake improvement association; board of directors of Central Lutheran School in St. Paul and Stevie Ray’s Improv Company; and as a church trustee.
Renae grew up on a farm near Kandiyohi County and graduated with a business education teaching degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She created and implemented entrepreneurship curricula to initiate two high school entrepreneurship programs and an entrepreneurship program for at-risk youth. Her role as a high school business instructor included creating and directing programs in youth entrepreneurship, youth apprenticeship, and workforce development. As an adjunct faculty member of a technical college, she taught courses in entrepreneurship, ethics, documentation and written skills for supervisors, and time management.
She enjoys using her experience and qualifications to communicate financial data in an accessible manner so the staff, committees, and board of MN Conference UCC can make the best financial decisions.
Renae is the recipient of the Outstanding Management Student Award and National Business Education Association Outstanding Senior Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and was one of 19 students selected by MSU faculty for the 1992 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
She loves to travel, hike, read, learn, and spend time with her children and five grandchildren.
