Rev. Abigail (Abby) Henderson
Director of Leadership Development
Rev. Abby Henderson joined the Conference staff in the new position of Director of Leadership Development in October 2019. In her role, she is co-director of The Damascus Project, an initiative of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Conferences that provides clergy, lay people, and members-in-discernment with meaningful opportunities for faith and leadership growth.
Prior to joining the Conference, she served as associate pastor at First United Church of Christ in Northfield for six years, as a chaplain at Hennepin County Medical Center, and as an associate pastor at First Church of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Abby grew up in New England and earned her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College, her master’s degree in social work from the University of Minnesota, and her master’s degree of divinity from Harvard Divinity School. She was a participant in the Lilly Endowment’s Transition-into-Ministry Program and the UCC Pension Board’s Next Generation Leadership Initiative, both of which provide leadership development for young clergy, experiences that have inspired her in her current position.
Abby enjoys the challenge of being part of a new kind of collaboration between Conferences and building a program from the ground up! She lives in Minneapolis with her spouse Will.
