Youth Lead Now: Equipping Young Leaders for Social Change

The third webinar in the Minnesota Conference’s “Justice Talk to Justice Walk” racial justice series

Thursday, August 6, 7-8:30 pm (via Zoom)

Youth and young adults (and adult supporters) are invited to join a discussion with guest speaker Samantha Fuentes, a survivor of the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and leader in March for Our Lives.

Samantha will share her story of resilience and healing that fuels her commitment “to uplift the voices of the silenced, and remind us that ALL our experiences matter regardless of color, religion, gender, age, or sexual orientation.” Samantha wants to rally bystanders to participate in change when they witness injustice, because “anything is possible in numbers.”

The webinar will be co-moderated by Cecilia Alexander and Rev. Kevin Brown. Cecilia is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire studying Political Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and is working this summer with the Minnesota Conference UCC to help manage the new youth/young adult Instagram channel and to help connect youth to social justice opportunities. She is a member of United Church of Christ New Brighton. Kevin serves as Associate Conference Minister of Faith Formation for Children & Youth with the Minnesota Conference UCC.

The webinar is free but registration is required. Register here.
